Profiling of Actinomycete products based on ESI-MS/MS spectra
Secondary metabolites derived from microbes are quite diverse. Approximately 40% of biologically active compounds derived from microorganisms have been produced by actinomycetes and many useful substances, including pharmaceuticals are found in actinomycete products. Mass spectrometry has played an important role in the discovery of novel bioactive compounds. We have performed targeted or nontargeted analyses of extracts of actinomycete broth by LC-ESI-MS analyses based on exact mass and retention time. There is a problem that many unidentified compounds are listed in the analyses. In this study, we report that the compounds were profiled by principal component analysis of the MS/MS spectra of actinomycete broth extract, focusing on the phenomenon that compound having MS/MS spectra of similar patterns contain similar partial structures.
