A new instrument of cryogenic ion trap-TOF mass spectrometer-infrared photodissociation spectroscopy for the study of mass selected ions and non-covalent clusters has been built and tested, The instrument combined the mass spectrometer's advantage of fast, sensitive and mass-selecting function, and the advantage of the infrared photodissociation spectroscopy for molecular structure test. The information of molecular species and the molecular structure and properties of the accurate selected ions can be investigated by this instrument. The composition and structure of some important molecules will be characterized in the biology, organic chemistry, environmental chemistry and atmospheric chemistry systems. The weak interaction of different molecules could be studied by analyzing their structure and composition. The technology of the cryogenic ion trap, infrared photodissociation spectroscopy, digital rectangular waveform, ion funnel and mass spectrometer simulations have been applied on this instrumental development. Our goal is to build up a multi-function and reliable instrument for remedying the defects of the mass spectrometer and infrared spectroscopy, and apply it in the scientific research.
