Environmental radioactivity research using ICP-MS/MS
Recently, triple quadrupole ICP-MS (ICP–MS/MS with an octopole reaction system) became available for measurements of ultra-trace radionuclides such as 129I, 135Cs, and 90Sr. The ICP–MS/MS features an additional quadrupole mass filter, situated in front of the octopole reaction cell and mass filter, which allows only the analyte mass to enter the cell. This analytical approach has the potential to provide a more sensitive and robust technique for the quantitative analysis of ultra-trace radionuclides in environmental samples. In this presentation, we review recent studies on environmental radioactivity research achieved by ICP-MS/MS techniques.
