We gained a new insight of detection sensitivity improvement by using ammonia eluent in LC-MS/MS. However, we haven’t known the specific reason of this phenomenon. Therefore, we focused on the electrospray ionization (ESI) and observed electrospray shapes (plume) by microscope under various solution. As a result, we found out two patterns of plume and prospect this difference affects detection sensitivity of ESI-MS.
