We investigated the ion-molecule interaction between 87Sr+ and various reaction gases to eliminate the isobaric interference of 87Rb+ on 87Sr+ to apply for Rb-Sr radiometric dating, because age of igneous rocks are determined based on the beta- decay of 87Rb to 87Sr with the half-life of 4.88×1010 years. We aimed to determine 87Sr/86Sr isotope ratio without sample pretreatments by separating the isobaric interference within ICP-MS/MS by ion-molecule interaction by changing the type of gases, gas flow rate, etc.
