Generally, atmospheric pressure (AP) MALDI-MS is considered to be a soft ionization method capable of obtaining molecular weight information of a sample with minimum fragmentation. Last year, we found that a-ions were observed when measuring high-concentration peptide samples with a CHCA matrix by atmospheric pressure MALDI-MS. In this study, we investigated using matrices with cinnamic acid skeleton and the reduced matrixes to clarify the nature of the matrix responsible for this phenomenon.
