Preventing the spread of COVID-19


Information about the 70th Annual Conference on Mass Spectrometry (2nd Report)
With the outbreak of COVID-19 continuing at a high level, we understand that you may be concerned about the format of the 70th Annual Conference on Mass Spectrometry. Under these circumstances, the Organizing Committee have decided that the conference is to be physically held as on-site conference in Fukuoka as planned. We are preparing to welcome you to the conference in Fukuoka by taking all possible infection control measures in cooperation with Fukuoka International Congress Center (https://www.mssj.jp/conf/70/covid-19.html), including the maintenance of the venue environment so that you can participate in the conference without anxiety.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude for all the cooperation and support we have received for organizing this conference, and the organizing committee members look forward to seeing you at the conference.

In this conference, we will pay special attention to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 infection. In this regard, we would like to kindly ask for the following cooperation from the participants.

Notes on participation

  • Please take appropriate actions to prevent infection, such as wearing a mask, washing hands, and gargling, during the conference.
  • Please refrain from attending the conference if you have a fever or cough, if you have traveled to a country or region restricted by the Japanese government within 14 days of the conference, or if you have been in contact with such a person.
  • Please refrain from attending the conference if the waiting period at home/accommodations after entering Japan overlaps with the holding period of the conference.

At the reception desk

  • Please disinfect your hands before registration.
  • We will measure your body temperature using thermography. If you have a fever of 37.5 ºC or higher, you will not be allowed to enter the venue.
  • Please check your body temperature every time when you enter the venue even after registration.
  • Please keep your distance from other people when waiting in line at the reception desk or cloak room.
  • In case of infection among the participants during the conference, the personal information of the participants may be provided to the government or local authorities with special care.
  • Please submit the "Declaration of Health Status" at the registration desk. The form can be downloaded from the following link. Please print it out, fill it out, and bring it with you.

In the venue

  • Please use the disinfectant available at the venue.
  • The number of seats in the conference room has been reduced to ensure appropriate distance between seats.
  • We will disinfect microphones and other equipment used during talks after each use.
  • The room will be regularly ventilated to change the air.
  • If you feel sick at the venue, please do not hesitate to ask a staff member nearby.

Luncheon seminar

  • The number of seats in the luncheon seminar will be limited to half of the capacity to keep a distance.
  • Please refrain from talking during the meal.
  • Please finish your meal as early as possible and wear a mask as soon as possible after eating.

Conference staff member

  • Staff member will check their body temperature before coming to the conference.
  • Staff member will wash their hands, gargle, and disinfect their hands at the venue.
  • In addition to masks, face shields and disposable gloves will be worn in the required sections.
