The rapid development of liquid chromatography mass spectrometry techniques has contributed to the accurate detection and identification of hydrophilic metabolites in various biological samples. However, since these hydrophilic metabolites have a wide variety of physicochemical properties, a generally applicable analytical system for the comprehensive and highly sensitive measurement of hydrophilic metabolites has not been developed. The aim of this study is to develop an advanced analytical system for ultra-comprehensive hydrophilic metabolome analysis by two ion chromatography high-resolution tandem mass spectrometry (IC/HRMS/MS) equipped with novel cationic or anionic suppressors.
