モノテルペン異性体の同定に対するプリカーサーイオンスキャンの有効性評価
Scent affects our mind and body, so that it plays an important role in daily-used chemical products. It is difficult to understand which components in scent affect dominantly in real time, because scent contains many components with low concentrations and they contain many structural isomers as represented by monoterpenes (C10H16; 136 Da). So, it is also important to distinguishably measure isomers in real time in scent research. Previous studies have shown that precursor-ion scan, one of collision-induced dissociation mass spectrometry (CID-MS), is useful for identification of three monoterpene isomers (α-pinene, limonene and myrcene) in real time. In this study, it was evaluated whether precursor-ion scan was effective for identifying monoterpene isomers by measuring essential oil, which includes several terpene isomers. Essential oil and each monoterpene standerd were measured by an atmospheric pressure corona discharge ionization (APCDI) coupled with CID-MS. In precursor-ion spectra of essential oil, specific ions to each terpene were detected (e.g. m/z 197, 309, and 410). These results suggest that precursor-ion scan is able to identify isomers including in monoterpene mixtures.
