Thermo Fisher Scientific continues innovation in providing not only mass spectrometry hardware but also peripheral technologies. The first part of the seminar will introduce of ion source and separation technologies for different applications. In the second half, Prof. Hirata will introduce a new pulsed laser deposition method and application. Two dimensional mapping analyses for both the elements and organic compounds are increasingly interested in various research fields such as bio-, material-, or Earth sciences. Recent developments in mass spectrometry provides distribution data for further trace-components with high-spatial resolutions. This presentation describes principles of orbitrap mass spectrometer and ion sources. Moreover, several latest applications for biochemical samples will be demonstrated.
